Population and Resource Allocation

 Population and Allocation of Resources:

The approximate global human population is around 7.8 billion in 195 countries accross the world China, India, USA, Indonesia and Pakistan are the top populous  countries in the world.

Their population are 1.4 billion, 1.35 billion, 327 million, 268 million and 234 million respectively. More than half of the world population lives in Asia.

Monaco is the world most densely populated country where 18,960 people lives in one square kilometer.whereas Mongolia is the country where only 2 person  live in one square km.

There is a general perception that , population itself is a cause of many economic and social problems.

But, this theory is not appropriate, because if we look at all above four most populated countries, we can find that ,  there is a proper resource allocation for population, which eventually resulted in the overall social and economic growth of these countries.

All these   four countries fall under the group of  G-20  as well.

But, it is  also true, that lack of proper resource allocation may disturb the whole balance of any society and economy  of the world.

Now, we will continue our discussion in the context of resource allocation and its significance, what are the factors and partners involved in this process of value addition.

There  are many  economic and social issues in  Pakistan or any other country, some of them are listed  below:

  • Rate of unemployment
  • Poverty
  • Disregarding merit in the selection and recruitment process.
  • Instituitional corruption either in economic or social form
  • Lack of Morality and ethical element within the sociey
  • Inflation
  • Power crises
  • Environmental pollution
  • Lack in Equality of justice and local oppurtunities
  • Insufficent  health, education, welfare  and other social infra structure system
  • Lack of rural develpment incentives.
  • Lack urban basic infra structure.

There are two partners, the State and its people, who join together in order to minimize above social and economic problems.

State, is an important partner of the society and economy for its development and welfare. Below are the important functions of any  State.

  • The empowerment of  quick and equal justice  for all  people.
  • Motivation media of  print, radio and televion.
  • The implementation of civil defence, health, education  and IT infra structure system through institutions and welfare groups working in the society.
  • Automation of  existing Government processes for easy access.
  • Poverty alliviation from the society  by creating  local and international economic oppurtunities
  • Value addition economic activity within the economy.
  • Focus on export of  technical and skilled labour, and simplification of procedures in this context.
  • Focus on ease of doing business within the State.
  • Focus on development of small scale business, cottage indusrties in urban and rural areas.
  • Developing  new towns for the people to shift the population load from mega cities.
  • To provide  irrigation water to those areas where rainfall rate is low.
  • To ensure maximum  utilization of  agriculture land in every crop season, and impose penalties for non ultilization of irrigational land in any season.
  • Regular  updates and treatment of irrigational soil effected due to water logging and salinity.
  • Involve local universities and International students to sort out the solution of local economic, social, engineering,  biological and other  issues in their doctoral research programmes.

Now we  discuss about the  role of second partner, means the  People or residents of that State, in order to  develop any society with the State or Government. There could be many factors in this context, few of these are listed below.
  • Be kind with others and always thankful to God.
  • Be always positive and never loose hope and temperament in adverse situations.
  • Self Development of individual and family member.
  • Respect senior citizens and special people and  engage them in social and economic activities.
  • Support those who do not participate in the economic activities in the family, neighbourhood, cummunity and beyond.
  • Domonstrate  good deeds and set example for childrens to follow.
  • Best use of state provided assets and pay back in return.
  • Set live examples of local philonthropist
  • Remain kind, honest  and fair with those who are even  unknown.
  • Follow   local rules, customs and practises and respect cultural and ethnic diversity.
  • Develop a culture to appreciate good deeds within the society.
  • Attaining  basic education and being consistant for getting technical skill and knowledge.
  • Be compititive  in social activities more than economic activities.
  • Develop a culture of success stories, which lead to overall social develpment.
  • Always plan  for self employment.
  • Guide people, and make things easy for others.

We can understand now that population  itself is not a problem, but there are issues of resource allocation, which  create  oppurtunities to fill the gap.
And, this develpment process is a two way traffic, both State and its people has to work together in order to get the macro and micro level economic and social benefits. Will try  to discuss this topic in the context of Pakistan in my next episode.
