 Lost Stories Of P&T Colony- Late Kareem Mamoon

Kareem Mamu, a beloved figure in the P&T colony, left an indelible mark on the lives of those around him. As a neighbor and a mentor, he embodied kindness, wit, and intelligence. His instant jokes and friendly nature made him a favorite among the younger generation, while his respect for elders earned him a revered place in the community.

Growing up, I would often visit Kareem Mamu's house, mesmerized by his command of English and his ability to explain complex concepts in a humorous way. His love for learning was contagious, and he inspired many of us to develop our own interests in politics, sports, and current affairs.

Kareem Mamu's life wasn't without challenges, though. He lost his wife early on and dedicated himself to raising his daughter, Habiba, who has gone on to have a successful career in the Sind Public department. Despite his own loss, Kareem Mamu remained a source of comfort and guidance for those around him.

My late mother once tried to convince Kareem Mamu to consider a second marriage, but he was hesitant, prioritizing his daughter's upbringing and well-being. A potential match was even suggested from our family in Hyderabad, but sadly, it didn't work out due to the lady's sudden illness.

Kareem Mamu's family was originally from Hyderabad, Deccan, and their talking style still reflected their city roots. His parents, Nani and Nana, were well-respected in the community, and his sisters, Putli Baji and Nayer Baji, were like aunts to many of us. His brother, Yousuf Mamu Alias Waja, was his partner in crime, and together, they formed a loving family unit.

Shaheen Bhai (Iqbal Jamil) was another influential figure in our lives, and his English speaking style was like music to our ears. Kareem Mamu and Shaheen Bhai were two of a kind – both erudite and charismatic, with a flair for the dramatic. We would often listen in awe as they conversed in their distinctive accents, marveling at their command of the language.

Kareem Mamu's house was always filled with youngsters from the neighborhood, and he would regale us with stories, jokes, and life lessons. He was a firm believer in the importance of manners, empathy, and kindness, and he instilled these values in us through his words and actions.

As I reflect on Kareem Mamu's life, I'm reminded of the importance of being present, being engaged, and being kind to those around us. His memory serves as a reminder to cherish the relationships we have and to strive to make a positive impact on the world, one neighbor at a time.

It's striking how Kareem Mamu's legacy continues to inspire us to reevaluate our own relationships with our neighbors. In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in our own lives and forget the people living right next door. But Kareem Mamu showed us that a little kindness, a little curiosity, and a lot of love can go a long way in building stronger, more compassionate communities.

I wish my own kids could have known Kareem Mamu – he would have been a wonderful influence in their lives. Alas, he's no longer with us, but his spirit lives on through the countless memories and lessons he left behind.

بزرگ ہستیوں میں آپ کے والد محترم قاضی صاحب، جمیل صاحب، جمال چاچا، کریم ماموں، یوسف ماموں، بادشاہ صاحب اور ایک لمبی لیسٹ ہے۔

کریم ماموں ٹی اینڈ ٹی کے محکمہ میں ایک اچھے عہدہ پر فائز رہے،  ایم اے انگریزی کراچی یونیورسٹی سے کیا آپ کے ساتھ مشہور اداکار وحید مراد نے بھی ایم اے انگریزی کیا تھا

 پی پی پی کے دور میں کریم ماموں نے سی ایس ایس کا امتحان بھی پاس کیا مگر انٹرویو کے دوران رشوت نا دینے پر انٹرویو میں کامیابی نہیں ہو سکی جس کا انہیں بہت دکھ تھا 

کریم ماموں انگریزی اخبار ڈان میں پروف ریڈر بھی رہے کیونکہ آپ کو انگریزی میں عبور حاصل تھا 

دور حاضر کے حالات تاریخ اور پاکستانی سیاست اور دنیا کے حالات ہوں یا ملکی غیر ملکی فلموں پر سیر حاصل گفتگو کرنے میں مہارت رکھتے تھے

حیدر آبادی کھانوں کو خاص پسند کرتے تھے 

بہت سادہ طبیعت خوش اخلاق ہر بڑے چھوٹے کا احترام کرتے اور محبت سے پیش آتے۔

اللہ تعالٰی مرحوم کو اپنی تمام رحمتوں کے ساتھ جنت الفردوس میں اعلی مقام عطا فرمائے آمین ثم آمین یارب العالمین۔
