Karachi, A mini Pakistan

Mazar-e-Quaid Karachi | Mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam

Dearest elected members of Karachi for National Assembly of Pakistan;

I am Karachi the biggest  city of Pakistan having a population of 20 million, which is almost 10% of total population of Pakistan. Being, a cosmopolitan city and a mini Pakistan, I remind you the following facts, I hope everyone of  you  and  other  general  Pakistani  people will like to read it.

1.       7th largest city of the World after (Tokyo, Delhi, Shanghai, Sau Palo, Mexico City and Cairo,)

2.       The aggregate GDP of Karachi is  $ 164 billion out of total national GDP of $ 312 billion, which is 53% of whole country.

3.       Pakistan  total revenue from all taxes during 2019 were $ 43.9 billion, out of  it, 65% was generated or  collected on behalf of Central Government by Karachi, i.e. $ 29 billion.

4.       There are some state of art and World class hospitals in Karachi which  also depend  upon the donations of general public. These are:

a.       SIUT

b.      NICVD

c.       Kiran Hospital

d.      Indus Hospital

5.       There are  many  local  based  welfare NGO’s which are doing welfare work for the city and the country as a whole, these are also  depend  upon charity and donations of general  public of Pakistan in order to carry their work. These includes:

a.        Edhi Foundation,

b.      Chippa  Assoication,

c.       Saylani Welfare Trust,

d.      Alamgir Welfare Trust,

e.      Al Khidmat,

f.        Ansar Burney Welfare Trust,

g.       Khawja Ghareeb Nawaz Welfare Trust,

h.      JDC Welfare Organization.

A simple question from all elected members of Karachi, either in Provincial assembly or National assembly, if  most of the economic activity of Karachi is dominated by  individual donations from all over the country and people residing outside Pakistan, then  what exactly the role of elected  people for the development of Karachi and Pakistan as a whole?

Ideally the  elected members for the house of representation in national and provincial  assemblies  are supposed to suggest Government, how  to  improve quality of life of the people of society. If the public elected  candidates fail to do this function, how a society can develop? And development is a natural right of any society.

Below are the areas of prime consideration of any Government for its people.

1.       Equal rights in society

2.       Equal opportunities in the process of development of economy and society

3.       Easy access to health, education, transportation, clean water, sanitation, civil defense and justice.

4.       A social media meant  to keep harmony and  peace among the people.

The purpose of above all information, is not to criticize to any political party, rather just to give them a  source of thought, for the way for which  the people are much waiting for.

Thanks and stay Blessed all.
